It's Masculine Monday - Wonderland card and video

Hi Stampers!  Welcome to another "It's Masculine Monday" card and video . . .
For today's card I used the new Wonderland and Wilderness Awaits stamp sets, Basic Grey and Basic Black archival ink from Stampin' Up!  Love, love, love the new ink! It really gives a crisp, black image. . .it is the perfect ink when you want to watercolor an image.

I really like the combination of sponging to create the mountain background and the stamped-off trees to give depth to this card.  As you can see in my video it takes very little time to create this card and every bit of time that it takes is really worth it!  Such stunning results.

This is such a great, strong, masculine card.  I am sure your special fella will really love it.

Don't you love how the Clear Zig Wink of Stella marker added shine to the moon?  Awesome!  As I have said many times before. . .can't imagine making a card without the Wink of Stella.  It really adds that special something.  I purchase mine from Amazon.  But, now there is good news!!! Stampin' Up! will begin carrying this item in the new Occasions catalog that starts in Jan 2016. . .Hooray!!!

Now, sit back, and enjoy my video . . .

Here are some additional ideas for the Wonderland stamp set that I found on Pinterest

  • Love how Valerie Gouget used the small border of background paper. The tiny dots really carry out the overall theme of the snow on her Joyeux Noel card.  To see more of her work, stop by her Pinterest page
  • Oh my goodness, don't you love Linda's brayered the night sky? Visit Linda Higgins blog to see her beautiful cards.
  • Rae's gold embossed Christmas card is so simple yet so very elegant. It could be easily mass produced and used as your family's card. Be sure and stop by her Wild West Paper Arts blog

It's Masculine Monday -- Wonderland Christmas Card

Hi Stampers.  Welcome to today's "It's Masculine Monday" card and video

For today's card I used the "watercolor band" technique and the Wonderland stamp set from Stampin' Up!.

Recently, I watched a video by Darlene DeVries of the Live Love Cards Blog where she used this technique to make a very attractive Christmas card.

Darlene used Distress Inks by Tim Holtz, but I was sure I could achieve a similar look using products by Stampin' Up! . . . 'cause you know how much I love my Stampin' Up! products!!

Because, I like things centered and even on the page, I drew a few pencil lines to help me line up my trees and to help ensure they were straight. The pencil lines were easily removed after completing the water coloring.

I chose to mask of the top and bottom areas on my watercolor paper with Micropore tape.  I like the Micropore tape specifically because it is waterproof and easily removed from the card.

I do hope you will give this technique a try.

Now, sit back and enjoy the video . . .

It's Masculine Monday -- Autumnal card made with Vintage Leaves

Hi Stampers.  Today I am bringing you another "It's Masculine Monday" card and video.

For today's card I use the "Ink Smooshing Technique".  As you will see in my video below, I applied ink to a slick surface, spritzed with water, and touched my stamped images to that inked surface.

I used the Vintage Leaves and Leaflets Thinlits from Stampin' Up! for my project.

By now, you are probably wondering if I own any other stamps sets, as I have been using this particular stamp set and die for the past several weeks.  Well, be assured that I do and I will begin showing them again, promise!

If you do not own this stamp set, here is an awesome tip.

They are available as a bundle!  What does that mean?  It means, if you purchase both the stamp set and Big Shot Thinlits as a bundle, you can save 15%.  How cool is that!  Be sure and check out the link in my supply list, below.

Here is a close up of the finished leaves. As you can see after "smooshing" them with ink, I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp with Elegant Eggplant. Then, I stamped the Gorgeous Grunge stamp again with VersaMark and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder.

I think those little details really bring the card together.

Now sit back, relax, and enjoy my latest video . . .

I thought you might enjoy seeing three other cards I found, on Pinterest, that use the Vintage Leaves and Leaflets Thinlits dies.

  • Love the background paper Brian of stampwithbrian.com created by stamping the leaves in a variety of colors.  By stamping the leaf in the Crumb Cake, his Mossy Meadow sentiment really pops.  Such a great card, Brian!
  • I really like the simplicity of Vicky Hayes card.  She has every detail just right.  She used a  subtle wash of Sahara Sand, then stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow and colored them in with Pear Pizzazz. Her final touch of the gold sequins is so beautiful.  Be sure and check out her blog at Crafting Clare's Paper Moments.
  • Wow, doesn't the gold embossed leaf bring a sense of elegance to this fabulous card by Amanda Mertz.  So very attractive!  Great work, Amanda.  You can see more of her work at Did You Stamp Today.
