It's Masculine "Wednesday"?? -- Party Pop-Up Thinlits Birthday Card

Hi, Stampers  :)

Sorry, for the (very) late It's Masculine Monday blog post. . .sometimes life just gets in the way.

How about this for a great masculine card?  I used the Party with Cake and Party Pop-up Thinlits bundle from Stampin' Up!

Check out the fabulous colors I used . . .

I put a tag on the inside of the card to carry through the tag from the front.  Also, unless you have a great gel pen, it can be difficult to write on black cardstock.

To give the Happy Birthday a little punch, I layered a white die cut on top of the black.  Love how it pops off the page (ha, ha).

Want a bow on your card?  But, just can't make it look good?  Follow my steps above to make the perfect, simple, tailored, bow!!  This bow is also a great alternative for all of your masculine cards.

Here is another idea for the Party with Cake and Party Pop-Up Thinlits bundle . . .

It's Masculine Monday -- Brayered World Traveler Embossing Folder Card and Video

Hi Stampers!  Welcome to today's "brayered" embossing folder card and video  :)

I am so glad to be back with a new "It's Masculine Monday" card and video.

Who knew it could be so very simple to add depth to an image you embossed with your Big Shot.  I am such a fan of my Big Shot, in fact, I can hardly imagine making a card without using it in some way.  And boy, do I love my embossing folders!  Such a easy way to add texture and interest to your cards.

The only tools you need are a brayer, ink pad and embossing folder.  Today, I am using the new Wold Traveler Embossing folder from Stampin' Up!

Just ink up the brayer and roll it over the inside surface of your embossing folder (the back of the side with the name Sizzix and Stampin' Up!).  Insert your card stock, run through your Big Shot and voila you've applied color to your embossed image.  So easy, and so good looking!!

Just think of all the images you can add color to.  Really makes you look at your embossing folders differently!

Want to add a border around a die cut image?  But, you don't have multiple sizes? Guess what, with just a little cutting and gluing you can add a great looking border that really makes your image pop!

In this case, I am going to border the locomotive image with black card stock.  Just cut two pieces of the card stock with your die.  Now cut both of them in half, one crosswise and one lengthwise.  Apply a little adhesive to the cut pieces and apply to the back of your die cut image.

So very easy and it really can make an impact to the focal point of your card.

I hope you have enjoyed learning these two simple tricks to add interest and pop to your cards.  For more detailed information be sure and check out my video. . .

It's Masculine Monday - Cozy Christmas Card and Video

Hi Stampers!   Welcome to today's take on a masculine Christmas card  :)

When we think of masculine cards often the first thing that comes to mind are dark, somber colors.  But, we need to not limit our color choices.  This card uses a pastel color, yet is perfect for a masculine card.

I hope you are being inspired by my "It's Masculine Monday" cards. My goal is to help you become more comfortable designing them.

I really like how the Winter Wonderland Designer Series Paper, silver foil paper and silver cording from Stampin' Up! make the ornament pop.  The small piece of black ribbon is a discontinued item, but any thin black ribbon would work to add an additional element to the card.

I thought it would be such a fun idea to have Santa flying over a village.  The Sleigh Ride and the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits from Stampin' Up! worked perfectly.

Here are a few additional examples of cards that were not intended as masculine cards, but are perfect for the guys in our lives.
  • I love the crisp, clean look of Rachel's card.  Such a great masculine card!!  Be sure and visit her Splitcoaststampers gallery  you will not be disappointed.
  • Paula used what I consider to be traditional masculine colors for her cute ornament card.  But, it would also be perfect as your family Christmas card.  You can see more of Paula's work at her Stampinantics blog.
  • Petronela's use of black and gold is so stunning.  This is the perfect masculine card!  Yet, as with the others it would also work for anyone.  Be sure and stop by her KeepStamping blog for some additional inspiration.

As always, thanks for taking time from your busy schedules to stop by my blog.
I do appreciate it!  I welcome your comments and questions . . .

Stampin' Up! - Lovely Amazing You

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today's card - a little departure from my usual  :)

This is such a sad time of year! Old favorite stamps and accessories are retiring, never to be seen again.  I know, I know. . .out  with the old and in with the new, but for a little while I will mourn the loss.

Are there Stampin' Up! products you love, but have not ordered? Well NOW is the time! What are you waiting for? Just CLICK HERE to check out the Retiring Product List and find out if some of your favorite items are going, going, gone. . .

I was designing this card and of course I HAD to pull out my Big Shot and emboss a layer with the Arrows Embossing Folder. Who knew when I first purchased my Big Shot just what a fabulous tool it would be for card making?  All I can say is . . . LOVE IT!

Yes, it is exciting, soon we will have 5, count 'em, 5 new In Colors to love and drool over. However, for now at least, I will definitely miss Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar.

But wait! The new colors Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder will be arriving shortly, and they are as wonderful as their names.  Trust me, you are going to LOVE them!!!

I've seen so many amazing cards on Pinterest that have the top layers of the card at an angle. So, I just had to try it. Truthfully, it was a little tricky to figure out the angles. . .but hey I really like how it turned out. How about you?

Hope you've enjoyed my card! If you need any of the products I used to make this card, just click on the links below and you will be taken directly to my ONLINE STORE. Which by the way, is open 24/7. . .how's that for service?  Please stop on by and fill your little cart with some FABULOUS Stampin' Up! goodies!!

Stampin' Up! -- Crazy About You and Hello You Thinlits

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today's "It's Masculine Monday" card  :)

Like you I am always on the hunt for a great, simple guy card. I am so pleased with the look of this card. It took very little time and supplies and I think it just screams "It's Masculine Monday"

I used the new Crazy about You Stamp Set and Hello You Thinlits Dies bundle and the Adventure Bound DSP all of which can be found in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.  By the way, if you are interested in ordering items from the Occasions Catalog remember, the sales period ends on June 2, 2015. So, hurry, hurry, hurry!!

I really want the happy to be elevated above the card surface so I die cut four of them with my Big Shot out of the Early Espresso card stock and glued them together. Then I die cut a piece of tan fun foam and glued it to the Early Espresso "happy" finally, I applied Crystal Effects to make it shiny.

As you can see, taking time to apply the Crystal Effects and elevating the "happy" with fun foam really helps the over all image to pop right off the card. I am LOVIN the look!!

I do hope you will give this card a try. I have never used fun foam like this and will definitely do it again. Oh, in case you were wondering, I just picked up the fun foam at my local JoAnn's.

Stampin' Up! -- Celebrate Today

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today's birthday card  :)

This birthday card is so fun and colorful. I definitely appreciate having dies that match the stamp set. . .they really help pull the card together.

With this Celebrate Today stamp set and Balloons Framelits dies from Stampin' Up! you can make some great cards. The set includes several different sentiments: wedding, baby, graduation, birthday, and celebrate, which makes it a fabulous choice for a variety of occasions!

Did you notice the touches of gold in the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper (DSP)? To help compliment it, I added a Gold Foil card stock layer. So shiny and bright!
I made the "birthday" banner by repeating the sentiment on a thin strip of Whisper White card stock. I wanted it to look like it was streaming from the balloon. Overall, I pretty pleased with this whimsical birthday card. Hope you also enjoyed it and will make one of your own.,

Many of the items I used today can be found in the Stampin' Up! 2015 Occasions catalog. You can purchase from the catalog until June 2, 2015, after that there is no guarantee that the products will move into the new 2015-2016 Annual Catalog to be released on June 2, 2015. So, if you really want to purchase these items. . .now is the time!

Stampin' Up! -- Painted Petals

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today's card :)

I think the Painted Petals stamp set, found on page 19 in the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog, is amazing. And how great is it that the Spring Flowers Embossing Folder and Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper coordinate so well with the stamp set!

Don't you think the embossing folder looks great with the stamped images? I totally love coordinating products, they make it so easy to create a beautiful card.

Notice the texture in the flowers, this seems to be a fairly new trend and I personally LOVE it. I think it really brings some interest to the stamped image.

Hope this post encourages you to go and stamp your own spring card.

Stampin' Up! -- Four Feathers

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today's "It's Masculine Monday" card  :)
I've been looking around on Google and Pinterest for ideas to use with the Stampin' Up! Four Feathers stamp set/Feathers Thinlits die bundle.  Thank you Linda Heller for my inspiration!! The stamp set originally made it's debut in the Stampin' Up! 2014 Holiday Catalog.  But, due to popular demand it remains in the current Occasions Catalog and it is STILL available as a bundle -- which saves you 15%!  How cool is that!!

I really like the look of the silver embossing on the silver foil paper. . .it almost looks like metal. This card really goes together quickly and would be just the ticket for that elusive masculine card.

As you can see in my close up. . .I obviously did not use the embossing buddy enough, because of the little speckles of embossing powder all around my feathers. So, don't make the same mistake, be sure to use your embossing buddy. One other thing that is important to note:  the silver foil card stock can be a bit slippery, so be careful when stamping the feathers.

Hope you will give the card a try!! If you need any of the supplies I used or just want to go shopping my online store is open for business 24/7. Just click on the shopping cart in the upper right hand side of this post or for a specific item you can click on the links below.

Stampin' Up! -- Four Feathers

Hi Stampers!
Welcome to today's "It's Masculine Monday" card  :)

I have just started experimenting with the Stampin' Up! Four Feathers stamp set and matching Feathers Thinlits die. I know, I'm a little late to the party (set was released in January), but better late than never.

This card allowed me to play with several different techniques. Did you notice the lines to the right and left of the stamped image? I used the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool to create the raised lines. I think it really helped to fill in the empty space on the Wild Wasabi layer.

The first step was stamp the sentiment in VersaMark and emboss with black embossing powder.

To achieve the blended look to the stamped image, I first stamped the feathers in VersaMark on Whisper White card stock and embossed with white embossing powder. I then applied the Wild Wasabi and Marina Mist ink with a sponge dauber, rubbing and blending the colors together. I really like how great the colors work together!

Finally, I stamped the feather images with VersaMark on vellum and embossed with white embossing powder. I ran the vellum through my Big Shot with the Feathers Thinlits Dies. I attached them to my card with Mini Glue Dots and added a bow made with black embroidery floss.

I hope you have enjoyed this "It's Masculine Monday" card and will give it a try. If you need any of the supplies I used be sure and stop by my online store.
