Hydrangea “For You” Card

Hydrangea For You Card

Hydrangeas are awesome! I remember my Grandmother always having huge, I mean HUGE hydrangea bushes in front of her home. The flowers were purple and blue and absolutely gorgeous. Clearly, my Grandmother could grow anything. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for me. At least, now I can stamp them to my heart’s content, and in any color I choose. Hopefully, you will create a Hydrangea “For You” card for someone in your life.  Your thoughtfulness will certainly be appreciated.

Art Gallery Happy Birthday

Art Gallery Happy Birthday Card

Who doesn’t love a beautiful birthday card? Well, I certainly do!  I especially love this Art Gallery happy birthday card I created with the new Art Gallery stamp set and die bundle from the new January-June 2021 Mini Catalog from Stampin’ Up!

birthday card using Art Gallery bundle

Over the years, I have developed a very personal card style.  I love layers of various sizes, and lots of them; I also want as much texture and variety to my card’s various layers.  For example, embossing folders, die cuts, sentiments, and embellishments.  Today, I stamped the large flower blossom around the perimeter of my card with Versamark ink. This provided the texture I wanted and made the base layer a little more interesting. I then added a layer of the new Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper. Which, by the way, you can choose as your Sale-a-bration gift with a $50 purchase. Next comes the stamped image; again, I was able to add a layer with the die-cut blossom.  The final touches are the die-cut sentiment, three pearls, and of course, Wink of Stella to bring the all-important sparkle to the blossom.

I hope you love this card as much as I do. Stick with me, and I know we can make beautiful cards together!

Cutting Details:

  • Mossy Meadow cardstock (card base) — 4-1/4 x 11; score and fold at 5-1/2

  • Basic White cardstock (2nd layer) — 2-7/8 x 4-1/8

  • Basic White cardstock (inside of card) — 3-3/8 x 4-5/8

Masculine Birthday Card

Masculine Birthday Card

Do you struggle with creating masculine birthday cards?  I know this is a common complaint.  I have that same difficulty.  However, the planning of this masculine birthday card came together quite quickly.

Masculine Birthday Card

As I had not made a masculine card for quite some time, I was a little apprehensive. In particular, I wanted my masculine birthday card to have a high contrast of colors, a repetition of design, a Stitched So Sweetly die, and a subtle Elegant Faceted gem.  So, I gathered my supplies, and much to my surprise, the card almost designed itself.  I especially like the pop of color the Cajun Craze cardstock adds.

Masculine Birthday Card

To provide a little continuity and additional interest to the inside of the card, I added a small strip of the In Good Taste DSP, with a smaller border of Basic Black cardstock.  Don’t forget that decorating the inside of your card provides a more cohesive look.

My SU! Color Palette

Simply thankful for all the good things

Simply Thankful card

Let’s make a Simply Thankful card.  Sometimes we just need to stop and take the time to be thankful for all the good things.  With everything that is currently going on in the world, being thankful can be difficult.  However, if we take a moment and ponder the small blessings that touch our lives every day, we can become simply thankful.

Simply thankful for all the good things

I am so looking forward to Autumn and all the beautiful colors of that season.  For this card, I used Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, and Bumblebee inks from Stampin’ Up!  I also used the Rooted in Nature and Country Home stamp sets and the Ornate Frames and Nature’s Root dies.

Simply thankful for all the good things

When I first started on my card making journey, I never decorated the inside of my cards.  Despite that misstep, I have learned just as in life, that often the inside is much more important.  We choose the right sentiment, write the heartfelt message, and add a little something to reflect the front of our card.  These steps make our cards more memorable and often touch the hearts of our recipients.

Card Dimensions

  • Basic Black (card base) — 4-1/4″ x 11″; score and fold at 5-1/2″
  • Very Vanilla (1st layer) — 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Basic Black (2nd layer) — 5/8″ x 5-1/4″
  • Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Bumble Bee (scraps) — die cut with Ornate Frames die
  • Very Vanilla (scraps) — stamp leaves — die cut with Nature’s Root die
  • Very Vanilla (inside) — 4″ x 5-1/4″
